January

There are many choices when looking to begin reading the Bible chronologically. There are one year chronological Bibles, the new chronological study Bible and countless lists of specific readings. I am using Read Through the Bible in a Year by John R. Kohlenberger III for 2009. This way I will be able to use my own Bible all year long and keep the notes in it for future reference.

So here we go:

January 1: Genesis 1-3

January 2: Genesis 4:1-6:8

January 3: Genesis 6:9-9:29

January 4: Genesis 10-11

January 5: Genesis 12-14

January 6: Genesis 15-17

January 7: Genesis 18-19

January 8: Genesis 20-22

January 9: Genesis 23-24

January 10: Genesis 25-26

January 11: Genesis 27-28

January 12: Genesis 29-30

January 13: Genesis 31-32

January 14: Genesis 33-35

January 15: Genesis 36-37

January 16: Genesis 38-40

January 17: Genesis 41-42

January 18: Genesis 43-45

January 19: Genesis 46-47

January 20: Genesis 48-50

January 21: Job 1-3

January 22: Job 4-7

January 23: Job 8-11

January 24: Job 12-15

January 25: Job 16-19

January 26: Job 20-22

January 27: Job 23-28

January 28: Job 29-31

January 29: Job 32-34

January 30: Job 35-37

January 31: Job 38-42

Why am I here?

Well, it's a year long story.

In November of 2007, I had surgery. While the surgery itself was successful, I had a little issue afterwards with internal bleeding. This little issue kept me off my feet for much longer than I had intended. I originally wanted to take a winter bible study at my church but since I was having difficulty working more than four or five hours a day, I didn't see any way that I could add anything else to my schedule. Then, one of the blogs that I read mentioned two different online bible studies that were going to be starting in January of 2008. One of the studies was a chronological reading through the Bible. I decided that this was something I could handle and purchased a chronological Bible. And God moved. In mighty and miraculous ways.

Now we are at the end of 2008 and I feel led to do it again in 2009. I can't wait to see what He wants me to see this upcoming year. (I know I missed so much and yet I know I learned to much!)

And so, a new blog is born. Basically, at this point and time, this blog will have the month's readings listed and I suppose it might contain any other thoughts that we might have on the journey. (I'm hoping that others join me. Mary Jane, now would be a really good time for you to start posting regularly.)
